13 Comeback To Desi Back-Handed Compliments

It seems like sexism is unavoidable. Just as bad: when sexist remarks are somehow concealed within compliments. Are we supposed to be flattered?

Because we aren’t.

Inspired by artist Vanessa Papastravos, we decided to make our own comebacks to some of the sexist comments that Indian women have to deal with daily.

Let’s get this straight once and for all: These aren’t compliments. They are insults that we are tired of hearing. And the next time someone decides to “grace you” with one, hopefully you’ll know exactly how to reply.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
