Penn, Pabst, Others.

A couple of big new Blu-ray titles were announced for release by UK boutique labels last week.

Powerhouse Films’ Indicator imprint continue to impress, with Arthur Penn’s oft-forgotten Mickey One set for release in July. The film, often said to be the American French New Wave movie, stars Warren Beatty in a role which saw him paired with his eventual Bonnie & Clyde director some years before the fact. Make no mistake, this is a major release.

Also coming from Indicator in July is The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, the lone movie written by Dr. Seuss, and Sydney Pollack’s Castle Keep, starring Burt Lancaster. Artwork is below.

Elsewhere, Eureka Entertainment’s Masters Of Cinema label announced a two-film pack from G.W. Pabst for release in July. Comprised of Westfront 1918 and Kameradschaft, the set promises to shed light on the filmmaker’s oeuvre away from his more famous work with Louise Brooks.
