Rohmer Incoming.

Keen readers will no doubt be aware that I’m very fond of the films of Éric Rohmer. I signed off this recent piece on the French director with “The work of Éric Rohmer is an absolute gift to cinema. One could do little better than to allow themselves to get lost in his movies”. That’s set to be a task much easier accomplished now that Arrow have announced a collection of his work for Blu-ray release later in the year.

French boutique video label Potemkine created the ultimate box-set of Rohmer’s work some years back. Though worth every penny it’s pretty expensive, and the supplements are lacking English subtitles, so this new release, which collects ten of the filmmaker’s pictures, is very much a welcome addition to the pantheon of Rohmer home video releases.
