Do Something Good With All Those Eclipse Glasses

Don’t throw them away, they can make someone else happy.
The fun is over, you got your picture, you got to see something really special, and now you have some glasses that you don’t know what to do with.
Never fear, I can help you solve that problem.
Don’t toss those nifty little things in the trash. Eclipses happen all the time, all over the world, we just happen to have the money to mass produce these fancy glasses that help in not burning your eyes out of your skull.
The rest of the world doesn’t have this luxury.
Enter, Astronomers Without Borders. ( click the link for more info)
It’s all still in the beginning stages, and they are working out the details, but they will be collecting glasses all over the country.
Their goal is to give them out to folks in Asia and South America, to educate them on the science behind it all.
You may be asking ‘ why would anyone be wasting their time on this?’
Well, think of it this way, if no one had taken the time to share the science with us, we could still be thinking, like many in the past did, that an eclipse signaled that the world was in for doom, that the god’s were angry with us, or even that the sun had ‘gone out’.
These people just want to educate the world.
We can take our simple glasses that we may have gotten for free, or a few dollars and donate them to a great cause.
Also, this will help so many from going blind when they see the eclipse for themselves.
Plus, these things don't need to end up in a landfill or the bottom of your closet.
Check out that link above, follow their newsletter and facebook for updates on how you can help.
Remember how happy and giddy the sight of the eclipse made you, that can be someone else because of your effort.
It is so easy, and it can make people you will never meet happy. That is worth it right there.
Spread the word.
Make the world a better place, one pair of glasses at a time.
