On Rough Days Like Today

Sometimes All We Have Are Ourselves

I’m still nowhere near feeling 100%, but I’m taking baby steps toward recovery. As I walked across the yard this morning a squirrel approached me as if he wanted to tell me something. I attempted to read his body language which appeared open yet difficult to decipher.

Was he thanking me for the bird feeder full of food? Did he sense my loneliness and in efforts to ease me, he in turn was sharing his emotion of loneliness? He and I were the only ones out there. I stood there baffled, starring him in the eyes, wondering if he would approach me closer. He didn’t, and I turned and went on my way out to the garden.

Quote for today:

“Negative emotions such as loneliness, envy and guilt have an important role to play in a happy life; they’re big, flashing signs that something needs to change”- Gretchen Rubin
