Seven Stupid Ideas I’ve Had Lately

And why they won’t work

1. Publishing a fantasy novel as a serial during NaNoWriMo

Potential problems:

  • I have never written a novel
  • I don’t even like fantasy that much
  • There’s no way I’ll finish NaNoWriMo

2. Publishing all my stuff on Wattpad

Potential problems:

  • Teenagers
  • Vampires
  • Teenage vampires

3. Quitting my job to do an MFA

Potential problems:

  • Rent
  • Gas
  • Electricity

4. Doing an MFA while working full time and looking after a baby

Potential problems:

  • Divorce
  • Mental breakdown
  • Funeral costs

5. Giving up on the MFA and just reading a bunch of books on writing

Potential problems:

  • They are all boring
  • They aren’t really that helpful
  • Why do I keep buying them, again?

6. Forgetting about the whole MFA thing and just writing like I always wrote

Potential problems:

  • I suck
  • I’m lazy
  • I keep making lists with bullet points instead of writing serious stuff

7. Treating writing as a hobby instead of obsessing about it

Potential problems:

  • My gigantic ego

(I know you were expecting two more bullet points for this last one. Sorry. My gigantic ego took up all the space.)
