The Soul and I

. . . like ‘The King and I’, yes . . . sorta

Sparks of Divinity

Yes, my story about ‘The Soul and I’ is sorta like ‘The King and I’ . . . but only sorta — (Is there really such a word as ‘sorta’? Well, if there isn’t, I believe we writers have given it a life.)

I was recently in a reading/discussion group. We were on the subject of meditation that day. I, for some reason or other, naively made the comment that rather than making purposeful effort each day, sitting yoga-style in a lotus position, I feel that I am in constant meditation all day long.

. . . I believe I now know what the victim of a riot must feel like. They all ganged up on me . . . verbally, in seeming anger. One woman, whom I believe to be very spiritually advanced, replied, “Yes, the soul is in constant meditation, not the personality. The personality is ever striving to reach up to the soul to connect with it.” . . . She might as well have added, “and you’re not there yet; none of us are!” ‘How dare I be so audacious as to think I’m connected to my soul . . . that the Soul and I are One?!’ I believe that was what they were so disturbed about.

I went into a state of shock at her very strange statement . . . and at their seemingly angry response. Firmly believing that I am a “soul-infused personality” (my own term), I could not believe that anyone would see the soul as being outside the personality and hard to reach.

I have always believed the many statements from great beings that the personality body is the vehicle for the soul in physical manifestation. Just as we humans use a car as a vehicle for our many physical needs and purposes, so the soul uses our personality body for its experiencing in the outer world.

Additionally, I see the soul as the bridge — I call it the Rainbow Bridge — between the personality self and the Divine Self. How can a bridge possibly connect at both ends when it is far away and literally inaccessible to the one end that needs to be connected?! That obviously cannot be so.

An article recently mentioned about the sun and its rays, and brought forth the analogy that we are to the Divine as the rays of the sun are to the Sun. Following that premise, if we are emanations from the Divine, then we are obviously already connected to the Divine Source of all Being in some way.

Further, it has often been stated by higher authority that we are each Temples of the Living God. All we have to do is to come into an awareness of the fact of our connection with our soul and with God . . . and become fully acquainted and accepting of the truth of our being.

So . . . if you can believe at least some of what I’ve put forth here — (of course without any real proof) — then cease striving for connecting with your soul or with God, and let the soul that is already within you connect your personality self with your Higher Self and your Divinity, so that . . .

You can let your light shine forth as the Spark of Divinity that you truly are!
