Yesterday was Fantastic.
Good times rarely happen around these parts, so I have to share it.

For nearly nine years now, I have either been unemployed or greatly underemployed. Until yesterday I had been the later since March, working only six hours a week.
To say that it’s rough being unemployed is a huge understatement.
Being in Indiana, I don’t qualify for food stamps because I don’t have children, don’t have a severe disability ( epilepsy doesn't count) , and am not over 65.
So, getting those few hours a week was awesome, it wasn’t much but it paid for the groceries.
Yesterday I was hired to be a baker at a new donut shop in town. It’s still under construction, so I won’t start for about a month, but I am thrilled.
I love baking and I really kneaded the work**.
This isn’t just any old donut shop either, I did a little research before I went for my second interview. It is a family owned company that only started franchising in 2014. It’s the type of small town shop you’d expect to find in Mayberry. The man I will be working for is a very admirable person and is very easy to talk to.
I haven’t even started, and I am excited beyond words.
It’s not even about the money, yea that will be great to be able to have steady income again, but to be able to go into work at a place I can take pride in, that is huge for me. I am the type that I need to have a job that isn’t just a check. I want a job that makes me happy to go into work, make a difference somehow.
If that is making someone just a little happier with donuts and coffee, I am game.
One of my dreams, that I don’t expect to happen, is to own my own bakery one day. I have wanted this for years, I just think it would be a great career.
Well, that is if someone doesn’t give me a billion dollars so I can retire on the coast of Scotland, or maybe I’ll buy that cliff from BroadChurch. ( if you haven’t seen that series, go watch it)
Anyway, yesterday was great, I have this huge weight off my shoulders and I can’t wait to start.
I can breathe a little better today.
