The groundbreaking new HOPR Node PC

It’s always a momentous occasion when you realize your next product launch is a huge step towards reaching your grand vision of universal decentralized data privacy. With that said, we are so very excited to introduce the HOPR Node PC. It’s the first custom hardware product of its kind, simultaneously running a HOPR node to relay and mask data exchanges, while also running a full Ethereum node, which helps the integrity of the entire Ethereum ecosystem.

Because we are so committed to an independent, decentralized future, we are offering the HOPR Node PC with no profit to us, while also incentivizing HOPR node runners. We believe this will help jump start our data-private Web3 vision, where users are not inclined to give up their private information for a “free” internet experience. We worked with Avado to develop this custom plug-and-play (or -earn) PC that works seamlessly and without heavy tech knowledge.

Initial demand for the HOPR Node PC was incredible after our launch, with several hundred people signing up for our waitlist. For this initial release, we only have 100 PCs available, which we will first make available to those who already subscribed to our waitlist. To make sure you’re first in line for our next batch of nodes (and to stay up to date on all things HOPR) make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter.

FIRST CUSTOM MIXNET HARDWARE NODE RELEASED TO PROVIDE DECENTRALIZED DATA PRIVACY AND ETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN INTEGRITY

HOPR, Who Recently Announced A $1 Million Seed Round Led By Binance Labs, Will Provide The Plug-And-Play Node At Cost, While Incentivizing All Node Runners For Relaying And Protecting Data Privacy

August 18, 2020, Zurich, Switzerland — HOPR, a Web3 data privacy-protecting pioneer, today announced the release of their customized HOPR Hardware Node. The mixnet node provides the ability to hide data transmission sources through multiple relays, while incentivizing the node runners. While running a mixnet for data privacy, the HOPR node PC can simultaneously run a full Ethereum node to ensure the blockchain’s network integrity. The data privacy company is the first to distribute a physical node and hardware component in the space.

“It’s incredible to think that the majority of nodes are run on cloud servers predominantly controlled by Amazon and Alibaba,” said Dr. Sebastian Bürgel, Founder of HOPR. “Our HOPR Hardware Node does not only protect the integrity of the Ethereum blockchain, but also pays for itself by relaying data through participating HOPR nodes.”

The HOPR Hardware Node validates transactions and blocks on the Ethereum blockchain and relays mixnet data, while not sacrificing a user’s internet bandwidth. HOPR node runners also are incentivized with the HOPR token, which will be released in Q4 2020. In July, HOPR announced a $1 million seed funding round, led by Binance Labs, who was making their first investment of the year. The plug-and-play, blockchain-ready node is being sold without profit at $440 with an 8GB RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.

“What HOPR is doing helps the entire Ethereum ecosystem,” said Bok Khoo (BokkyPooBah), Ethereum smart contract auditor and security advisor. “Previously, there was no incentive for a person to run an Ethereum node, but now there’s two very compelling reasons. The HOPR node helps usher in data privacy for a decentralized and privacy-first internet experience, or Web3, where user data is not collected every step of the way, while simultaneously running an Ethereum node.”

The company is only making 100 HOPR Hardware Nodes available for the initial release, with preference given to the hundreds who signed up on the waitlist during HOPR’s company launch announcement. Shipments will go out in September, before a wider release in October. Find out more here: HOPRnet.org/Node

About HOPR

HOPR provides the tools and framework for the Web3 ecosystem, ensuring everyone has control of their privacy, data, and crypto assets as they navigate online. The HOPR protocol introduces the first-ever open incentivized mixnet, where anyone can earn tokens for staking and running nodes. Dr. Sebastian Bürgel, who helped draft the DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) Law in Switzerland, leads a diverse HOPR team which includes award-winning blockchain hackers and Silicon Valley tech veterans.

HOPR combines the traditional association as a proven legal entity in Swiss jurisdiction with the tenets of a Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) which results in a Decentralized Community-Enabling Governance (DecenGov). HOPR has its main office in Zurich, Switzerland.
