HOPR DAO v0.2 Referendum Begins

The Referendum phase of the second HOPR DAO governance experiment is now live and will run for just under 24hrs, until noon CET on Tuesday 19th October! Head to the forum to read the proposals and sign the ones you think should be put to the vote, which will start two hours after the referendum ends.

The referendum phase is designed to provide a simple, low-effort way for you to influence the direction of the HOPR project regardless of your token holdings. This is also your last chance to earn a share of the 50,000 HOPR token incentives allocated to this governance experiment, as well as one of the high-ranked boost NFTs for the HOPR staking program.

The topic for our second DAO experiment is:

“How should the 168,763 DAI and 485,355 HOPR tokens generated from the Balancer Liquidity Pool and the Uniswap v2 pool be used?”

This has been split into two parallel discussions, with separate proposals for how to spend the HOPR tokens and the DAI. The HOPR token proposals were all put forward by the HOPR Association, whereas the DAI proposals have all come from the community.

What To Do Now

Seven HOPR token proposals and eleven DAI proposals received enough support to reach the referendum phase.

Please visit the forum and add your signature to any proposals which you support.

You can only sign each proposal once, but you can sign as many different proposals as you like.

To sign a proposal, click the like (heart) button under the proposal you support.

Signature gathering will continue until noon CET on Tuesday 19th October.

To qualify for the vote stage, proposals need at least 15% support from active DAO participants. At time of writing that means 25 signatures, but this figure will grow as more people participate over the next 22hrs.

If fewer than four proposals reach the 15% support threshold, the four proposals with the most support will move forward to the vote. This applies separately to each currency category (DAI proposals and HOPR token proposals).

You can still discuss the different proposals and make your case for which ones you do or don’t support, but no new proposals can be made, and existing proposals cannot be edited.

What Comes Next?

All proposals which meet the signature threshold will advance to Phase 3: Vote. Voting will take place on Snapshot, so there’s no gas cost involved. A snapshot will be taken just before the vote goes live, and only HOPR balances at that point will count.

wxHOPR, xHOPR and HOPR balances all count towards your vote total, as well as all tokens staked in our staking program.

Unlike last time, there will be two different votes and you will be able to split your vote amongst different options. We’ll post another blog post tomorrow explaining the procedure.

The vote will run from 2pm CET on Tuesday 19th to 2pm CET on Thursday 21st.

And remember, there’s still 50,000 HOPR tokens and a whole host of HOPR boost NFTs available for participating in the experiment. Head to the forum to earn your share and help make the best decision for the future of the HOPR Token!
