Sedimentum and HOPR Partner to Protect Privacy in Healthcare Emergencies
The Network-Level Data Privacy Technology Is Developed By HOPR, Who Recently Announced A $1 Million Seed Funding Round, To Protect The Information Of Patients Receiving Healthcare Services.
September 23, 2020, Zurich, Switzerland — HOPR, a blockchain-based data privacy pioneer, and Sedimentum, a leading Swiss healthcare startup, today announced a technological partnership. Sedimentum ensures that unattended vulnerable people and seniors get immediate care in the event of health threatening events, while alleviating the burden on nursing staff and relatives. Sedimentum’s solution consists of a sensor device — the size of a smoke detector — which is installed on the ceiling, and utilizes a sophisticated AI-software and a novel data anonymization procedure.

Sedimentum’s technology won a startup prize awarded jointly by Tech Data Switzerland and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. It is the first non-wearable sensor device that can detect falls, respiratory arrests, and other anomalies without using cameras or microphones. HOPR recently received $1 million in funding from a group of investors, including Binance Labs, the leading blockchain incubator and investment firm, to continue building their free, open source protocol that protects data privacy for all participants.
