Exploring What Comes After the UN Sustainable Development Goals

On June 14, we held the second of our Headline Theme events asking What Comes After the UN Sustainability Goals?

The What Comes After the UN SDGs? June panelists

The question being the same for all three of our events, this series offers an opportunity to reflect on how answers can differ, depending on the expertise and experience of panellists.

Where the first event saw our panellists — Ravi Gurumurthy, Sarah Ichioka, Jordan Mullard and Kavitha Hariharan, discuss economy, governance, and society, our June panel also covered a broad range of areas, from the value and risks of artificial intelligence, the need to reflect on how we consider culture as essential to addressing global issues, and the dangers of political polarisation and lack of trust.

We were joined by Head of the Secretariat of the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board Dr Ian Smith, Emmy award-winning filmmaker Lisa Russell, Professor of Green Economics at Roehampton University and former Green Party MEP Molly Scott Cato, Professor of Meteorology Ben Lamptey, and Research Director for the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media (CASM) at DEMOS Carl Miller.

The panel was chaired by Executive Dean of Leeds University Business School, Julia Bennell.

Our third and final panel discussion will see Henrik Skaug Sætra, Zaakira Mohamed, Jessica Hope, Rosanna Lewis join director of Educational Engagement Louise Banahene at Leeds City Museum.

This event is free and open to all, and you will be able to book tickets for the in-person event, and also online.
