It’s our pleasure to bring you another round-up of recent Horizon State news. But first, an announcement…

Each month we’ll be looking across all our social channels (especially Telegram, Reddit and Discord) to identify a stand-out Community member as part of our new Community Advocate of the Month Program. The winner will receive $100 worth of HST and we will also donate $100 to his/her chosen charity.

Congratulations to the inaugural winner this month, Shane, also known as @xrcash on Telegram. Shane has always been a positive, engaging and enthusiastic Community member but over the last couple of weeks he’s gone into turbo mode. He has spent many hours spearheading our community efforts, promoting HST in response to Huobi Australia’s request for ‘community noise’ to support a potential listing application. Not only has Shane personally promoted HST to Huobi Australia, he has also invited, encouraged and cajoled many other Community members to join him in his efforts. And Huobi Australia heard our Community loud & clear! So our thanks to Shane and every other Community member who has had their voice heard.

Also big thanks to our friends at Power Ledger who were happy to let us borrow their idea.

In other Community news, it’s been less than a week since we launched our Discord server and numbers have been growing nicely ever since. Discord is an important addition to our community outreach, especially for the crypto and gaming world. One of Discord’s key advantages over our other community channels is that it supports rooms for different topics. We’ve already made changes to our initial selection of topics in response to Community feedback and the rooms for #coffee, #hst-trading and #community-chit-chat-and-banter have proven most popular so far. As the Discord Community grows, we will be very community driven in the direction and operation of this channel.

Oren & Nimo representing Horizon State at Innovation for Impact

Our Innovation for Impact event was a huge success and a whole lot of fun. Special thanks to Power Ledger and ShareRing for partnering with us to make the event possible. And a huge thank you to all our incredible Community members who turned out in force; we’re very fortunate to have such a committed and passionate Community! All the Horizon State team who attended enjoyed connecting with our Community over some drinks & laughs in person. If you are interested, you can catch up with the livestream and see some event photos.

A very special thank you to David Haesaert (@Cryptodeef on Telegram) for volunteering as our event photographer and the impressive results he produced. If anyone is looking for a Sydney based event photographer get in touch with David on Telegram.

David Swan, a well-respected technology journalist with The Australian was the facilitator for the event and the panel. He, along with audience questions, prompted the panel including Oren and Nimo, to share thoughts on what’s happening in this sector of the business and the tech world. The panel also included James Eggleston and Dave Martin from Power Ledger, and Tim Bos from ShareRing.

A wide-range of interesting questions were asked including: “What has the recent market (re)evaluation of cryptocurrency meant to your business?”, “What are your communication strategies at a time when the market is depressed and what are you doing to make others feel more enthusiastic about your project?” And, “With your very revolutionary projects, that offer advantage over what is out there, how are you finding the response from industry and where do you think you are in the adoption of your technologies?” The panel’s answers informed and inspired the crowd and made it clear that the leaders from the three companies on stage were committed to building real businesses to create socially valuable change in the world.

Our new Meet the Team series kicked off this week. The series will feature a different team member each week with Oren Alazraki our CEO and co-founder starting it off. The article gives an in-depth sense of Oren as a person, his values and why he does what he does. Read more at here.

Next up on Meet the Team series, our CTO and co-founder Nimo Naamani.

We had the pleasure of hosting a Telegram AMA with Adam Jacoby, Founder and Chief Steward of MiVote. In a change of practice Adam answered the questions using audio messages and the Community really enjoyed hearing his responses. You can read the questions and listen to the answers on our Telegram . If listening is not your thing, a transcript will be available soon.
