Welcome to our monthly newsletter update, where we are continuously providing you updates on what is happening at Horizon State. The focus of this month has been onboarding new customers from New Zealand and Australia, as well as reaching out to potential partners where our software can complement a different service. We are also very pleased to share news of our strategic partnership with Binance Charity Foundation and work continues of the refresh of our public facing website which we will be releasing next month.

Business Development and Sales

We have recently onboarded two new clients: one being an insurance company who will be using our system for their annual general meeting, and the other is a city council who will be running an employee vote as an initial pilot, with the view of extending to the wider population upon successful completion.

The customers we have been targeting over the last month fall under two verticals — Local Councils and Cooperative/Mutual organisations in New Zealand and Australia. We have already had numerous conversations with key stakeholders at these organisations and have a number of prospective clients who are interested in using our system this year.

The next client usage of our system will commence in June, and we will be sharing further information about this new client next month. This consists of a number of engagements running over the course of 6 months.

Strategic Partnership — Binance Charity Foundation

From day 1 our token mechanics have shown our commitment to good causes, with a percentage of all revenue going to charity. We’re thrilled to have teamed up with Binance charity to provide transparent distribution of funds!

Horizon State joins Blockchain NZ

This month we joined a number of other market-leading companies in New Zealand in becoming a member of the Blockchain Association of New Zealand (BlockchainNZ).

BlockchainNZ is an association of organisations and individuals that represent this rapidly emerging business sector and those engaged in the wider global Financial Services, IT, and public sector communities. BlockchainNZ members have come together to lead a programme of work, taking a key role in growing the country’s capability to maximize the opportunities enabled by blockchain technology and address any challenges.

Development Update

Last months focus was on maintenance work, updating dependencies and expanding support to more browsers and screen sizes. Work on the CMS has been going somewhat slower than expected, as we needed to address a few updates first. The most important of those is providing translations to multiple languages, and the ability for a user to select their preferred language. This is a crucial piece of the puzzle for some of the prospects we are dealing with right now, and as a result we had to rejig priorities a bit.

Other than that, we also have turned our attention to optimising our hosting and services. Our aim is to run as lean as possible, and that includes re-jigging our AWS infrastructure and software tools that we use. This will ensure we are ready to get the most from any service ramp-up.

Techweek NZ 2019

Coming up later this month, our New Zealand based team members will be attending a number of Tech Week 2019 events in Wellington. Techweek brings together a wide range of technology startups and government organisations and we are looking forward to providing a recap of our experience in next months update.

The intention behind Techweek is simple. New Zealand’s technology and innovation sectors are growing rapidly, and Techweek fosters that growth by providing the national ecosystem with a week-long opportunity for connection and cross-pollination, using an independent platform to amplify New Zealand’s unique and inspiring innovation stories to the world.
