Community Update: Welcome to Our Discord Channel
Bringing in More Voices From New Channels
Hey Horizon State fam, how goes it? This is an update from your Social Media manager, Hafeez, on a new social channel we’re bringing aboard at Horizon State. The online world is always changing, and we want to do our best to be where the greater blockchain and cryptocurrency enthusiasts congregate so that we’re always part of the conversation.
Today we’re proud to announce that we’ve setup a Discord Channel, where we’ll be integrating multiple chat rooms to better serve the many different interests of our community. We know that for a while we’ve had different opinions on what goes on in the main Telegram channel; in the interest of being diplomatic and giving everyone a chance to build bonds, we’re going to create rooms that can host the various conversation topics that come up through the workings of our eclectic Horizon State fans.
But we already have Telegram?
Yes, we do — and we’ll continue to do so! Nothing changes with our telegram channel; we’ll continue to use it just as we are. The idea behind this is to create a space where our community can enjoy something beyond just discussions related to Horizon State’s business. We want to create a spot where you’ll have the ability to chat with your fellow community members beyond just the serious stuff.
Want to have a never-ending GIF battle? Well we can make a room for that.
Want to start gaming with the HST squad? We have a room for that too!
The whole point is if you want to participate you can, and those that want to stick to just the specifics aren’t forced to read through 50 scrolls of banter. This way we can show some common courtesy to all community members, without infringing on any of the “fun stuff”.
Furthermore, in the Blockchain space we’re seeing a huge rise in communities moving to Discord; it’s now one of the most important spaces for technology companies, like Horizon State, that are looking to make a big splash on the web.
As a team we’ve made a promise to make the best choices we can to grow and connect with even more individuals who’d like to learn about how Horizon State plans on growing over the next several years.
So how’s the Discord channel going to be arranged?
Great question! Much of this is a community-driven endeavour; it’s what you all want to make of it. Obviously, we don’t want any spamming, rudeness, or questionable content; but we’re giving you the freedom to make this space something utterly unique for everyone to enjoy.
So far, we’ve got the following rooms setup:
1) General
2) Updates
3) Horizon State Main
4) Coffee (post your coffee pics or your morning rise and shine moment)
5) HST Chat (for endless token discussions)
6) Community chi-chat and banter (Pretty much everything @xrcash would love to see)
7) Games Room (a games-oriented chat room)
8) Secret Admin Party (Sorry can’t really tell you what goes on here, all I can say is it’s really, really fun)
9) General Voice Chat
10) HST Voice Chat
11) Banter Voice Chat
Anything else you’d like? Let us know!
Also, we’ll also be giving the community member’s the ability to elect their own admins for the fun rooms (Andrew and I will still be Super Admins to make sure nobody goes off-side). This way we can allow the HS admins to focus on the areas that are pertinent to business, and the community gets to have an area without the same degree of control.
So What’s so special about Discord?
Discord was built for the gaming community, so it’s a really clean piece of software with a whole bunch of features designed to bring communities together. In the world of blockchain, Discord is becoming more and more popular, as various projects are looking for ways to organize their large communities without stifling conversations. Furthermore, we can host voice chats; this will bring a whole new level of conversation to the HS family. You’ll be able to hear your favourite community members in real time and we can even host update chats with the staff.
