Alice Hardy’s (former Camp Crystal Lake Counselor) indictment came on the heels of the killing of former Camp Crystal Lake cook, Pamela Voorhees. There is little speculation as to Hardy’s actual culpability in Voorhees’ decapitation.
In 1957, Voorhees had been vocal with her accusations of Camp Crystal Lake counselor’s role in her son Jason Voorhees’s death (unverified; it was ruled an ‘Accidental Drowning’ by Wessex County Coroners Office), the year before the murder of Counselors Barry Jackson and Claudette Hayes in 1958. Voorhees was suspected of poisoning and arson at the camp in 1962, but not the murders. No charges were filed in either case.
When asked how a coroner’s report could have been performed when they had no body, the county blamed shoddy and archaic record keeping. And the fact that they just went off eyewitness accounts.
