I am going to write about a curse ritual that is known to every Japanese person. It’s called “Ushi no Koku Mairi” or “Ushi no Toki Mairi,” among other names. I introduce this as a part of Japanese culture, but you must refrain from imitating it.

When did Ushi no Koku Mairi begin?

The use of dolls for curses existed during the Nara period (710–794 AD). By the Edo period (1603–1868 AD), the “Ushi no Koku Mairi” method, as it is known today, had been established.
