Therapy can be a preventative too.

Electric Cowgirl travels frequently to San Diego and Phoenix to perform PEMF therapy on horses and people. On our last trip, we had the same statement come up a few times. Let us set the scene.

“Anon greentext”

Realistically, there are three answers to this question.

  1. There is nothing wrong
  2. There is something wrong
  3. I am unable to disclose if there is- or is not- something wrong. I respect the privacy of my clients. Please ask the owner if you would like to know more.

I use number 3. The curious boarder asking the question is, in most cases, not being nosy. They are just interested and making casual conversation. The concerning part, is that here in the U.S., we are only reactive to problems in our horses. This is why “What is wrong with (horse)?” is always the first question asked.

Unlike our european counterparts, Americans only call the vet or try to solve a problem after a significant amount of time has passed, or if the horse is unable to perform. As a culture, we still have not yet learned that massage, chiropractic work, PEMF’s and other modalities can be used to prevent a problem from happening in the first place.

As I continue my journey in this industry, I sincerely hope to see an awakening in horse owners of all kinds. In time, I hope our equine therapy practitioners will be visiting horses as regularly as a farrier. Until then, I will continue to remain an ambassador for change.
