First observed in a clinical setting by Dr. Pauline Clance in 1985, Impostor Syndrome triggers in people “intense feelings that their achievements are undeserved and worry that they are likely to be exposed as a fraud.” They often feel that any success in their lives can be attributed to pure luck or to the manipulation of other people’s impressions.

Turns out, it happens to the best of us — recent figures suggest 70% of us….

And this is what will be the focus of our discussion at our meetup hosted with Circle Community on Tuesday 28th November.

Our panel of successful leaders will include Sally Shepard, iOS Technology Manager at Hotels.com, Nik Crabtree, Principal Software Engineer at ASOS, and Auriele de Sainte Preuve, CPO at SEENIT. An expert in imposter syndrome will facilitate the discussion — Kate Atkin, Speaker and author of ‘The Confident Manager’.

We are looking forward to the discussion on this fascinating topic so we can better understand the effects of imposter syndrome and how we can mitigate them! Sheryl Sandberg said in LeanIn, ‘Both men and women are susceptible to the impostor syndrome, but women tend to experience it more intensely and be more limited by it.’ It is great to have a diverse panel so we can really understand how it affects a range of different people with different backgrounds and experiences.

This event is open to everyone interested in the topic — Whether you have experienced imposter syndrome yourself, know someone who does, or are interested in learning more about it, we can’t wait to welcome you.

There will be drinks, food and networking before and after the panel discussion to give plenty of opportunity for networking and discussion!
