I loved the ornate details and balance of St George’s Chapel. Photo by author

Do you think your house is drafty and costs a fortune to heat? Take a look at Windsor Castle.

This famous castle has been home to Queen Elizabeth, and generations of monarchs before her. It has hosted coronations, weddings, funerals, state dinners, and celebrations.

As you can see in the photo, “Bobbies” stand guard to protect the royal family living in the castle.

We approached from the rear of the building and then later walked around to the front, the more recognizable feature of the huge mansion. There is a lot of walking involved in this visit and it takes several hours to see the outside of the castle.

Interior tours are also available, where you can see a plethora of famous artwork in the many gilded rooms.

There is something awe-inspiring about a building withstanding the tests of time since 1070. This huge castle has been through wars, plagues, fire, destruction, and rebirth. It has survived, standing sentinel for centuries!
