Welcome to another edition of House Money Fantasy’s NBA Slate Breakdown. We have a small 5 game slate tonight with some interesting options to choose from. As always, broken down below, position by position.

Point Guard

Damian Lillard ($9,300): The most expensive player on the board not named LeBron James, Lillard finds himself in an interesting spot tonight. Other than his dud against the Clippers, Lillard has been fantastic this season scoring 40+ fantasy points in 8 of his 10 games including a 60-point outing in his last game. The Bulls have done surprisingly well against point guards (5th in fantasy points allowed) given how bad of a defender Rajon Rondo is. I’d prefer paying down a little bit in cash but, the ceiling is always there for Lillard as a GPP play.

Kyle Lowry ($7,600): I think this will be the decision of the night for cash, Kyle Lowry vs. Kyrie Irving. Some would argue Lowry is safer due to the fact he gets more rebounds and assists and doesn’t rely as much on scoring. Not to mention he’s playing a whopping 38.7 minutes a night and has a true usage rate of 26.4%. The matchup isn’t ideal for Lowry tonight though, the Cavs rank 8th vs PGs and Toronto has the second lowest team total on the board. Lowry struggled against the Cavs in their first meeting this season but, in their previous two meetings he scored 68.5 and 48.8 fantasy points. His minutes and usage keep him in play for cash tonight.

Kyrie Irving ($7,400): This is where I’m leaning for cash tonight. The fact that he relies so heavily on scoring is a little worrisome but Irving has everything else in his favor. The Cavs have the third highest team total on the slate and Irving’s 31.3% true usage rate means he should have ample opportunities in this one. He shouldn’t have any trouble converting on those opportunities either as the Raptors rank just 26th in the league vs the point guard position and Irving was able to put up 41.5 DK points in his last game against them. I like Irving the best for cash but, I’d prefer to look elsewhere for GPP.

D’Angelo Russell ($6,200): I can’t recommend Russell for cash since he hasn’t play 30+ minutes in two weeks but what a spot this is for tournaments. He has a true usage rate of over 30% and gets a great matchup vs. a Nets team that has a very tough time stopping point guards (23rd in the league). Also, the Lakers have the highest team total on the board and this should easily be the fasted paced game of the night. I can’t pull the trigger on him in cash but, I’ll definitely have a lot of tournament exposure to Russell.
