A simple tool to optimise your productivity, The 10-Minute Rule will push you into a state of flow, or just move your further along in your work projects or daily tasks. Top tip: It’s also a smart way to throw some exercise into an otherwise impossible day.

Sara Bennison is the Barclay’s Bank Managing Director, she manages a team of more than 100 staff and is also the mother of four children, aged between 8 and 15. She came up with the idea for the 10-Minute Rule, inspired by a button on her slow cooker. She pushes the button and sees how far she can get with work or tasks — and finds it’s always further than you’d think.

The 10-minute bursts allow her to get smaller tasks done, so she has more time to re-invest in herself, her children and decompressing with her family.
