Every year Pantone releases it’s highly anticipated Colour Palette for the year ahead, and this time their top ten colours for spring 2017 features a special shade of green as the incoming colour of the year. No longer just the smoothie ingredient du jour; get ready to bring shades of kale deeply into your life.

The announcement coincided with various fashion weeks around the world, or what is now being noted as Fashion Month. Paris Fashion Week was in swing and Vogue’s street-style photographer Phil Oh captured shades of green popping suggestively on the streets. Faux fur coats and velvet blazers brought drama in deep greens, while trench coats and all manner of jackets were re-imagined in more dusty, decidedly kale-looking shades.

The yearly forecast is credited as being pretty accurate, with the curated colours popping into play well beyond the wardrobe; historically Pantone’s shades have followed suite to appear in the form of homeware, decor, and furniture. Emerald Green was last verde shade to hold the notable title in 2013 and amongst other items, it was splashed onto shoes, handbags, drapes and even walls.

We love the idea of another green fashion moment, so we explored the benefits of a kale life and style diet…

Living Mindfully With The Colour Green.

Green is a colour associated with Mother Earth and healing naturescapes. If you are feeling restricted or suffering from emotional stress, then green is the colour for you. The colour promotes wellness, restfulness, eliminates tension, anger and impatience. Wearing or surrounding yourself with green creates stability, promotes positive feelings, compassion and sensitivity.

Bringing green into your life and home creates emotional space, enables you to give of yourself to others and connects you to work or projects you may not have had your heart in. Green encourges balance, reminds you to slow down and enjoy deep breaths, all of which alleviate heart problems, anxiety and stress.

Embracing Kale may just be the healthiest thing you do in 2017.
