Power Failure

a tiny thank you to my collection of candles

Full dark except stars
The power connection cut
good time for candle

I wanted to go a little outside the box for this haiku.

There was a complete power failure on my street last night during a storm. I love storms provided I’m inside when they start. I love the way lightning illuminates everything. However, when it’s 11 pm and everything goes dark, I get a little nervous.

It was the perfect time to light a small candle and focus on the light. It was calming during what would be a time of chaos.

Thank you for reading my work today. This haiku was inspired by Dennett’s prompt of Broken in House of Haiku.
