Mediatek Dimensity 820 — The new smartphone chipset that can take on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon at the Mid Range Market

In the smartphone SoC (System on a chip) market, Qualcomm and MediaTek does have a huge competition, the Taiwanese silicon giant has impressed with its new Dimensity SoCs this year. These 7 nm based Dimensity SoCs have tremendous performance and goes head-to-head with Qualcomm and even dominates it. The System-on-a-Chip is the brain of your smartphone.

MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 820 chipset, a more powerful version of the Dimensity 800. Compared to the old chip, the new version increases CPU and GPU performance and improves the 5G connectivity.

This makes it a very good option for all Mid Range phones as it will be much faster compared to Snapdragon phones at this price range.

MediaTek’s new Dimensity 820 SoC is a mid-ranged SoC with four high-performance Arm Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.6GHz and the other four efficiency Cortex-A55 cores continue to be clocked at 2.0GHz. On the graphics front, the SoC features 5-core Arm Mali G57 GPU.

As for the first Dimensity 820 phones, Xiaomi has confirmed that its Redmi 10X series will be equipped with the processor.
