And to cap it all off..

Not one to rest on their laurels, DREVO has sent over some keycaps to review. These are standard ANSI US keycaps, so they’ll fit the majority of keyboards using the most popular switches (Cherry MX/Gateron/Kailh/Outemu). Keep in mind that some manufacturers/units use a different key spacing on the bottom row and this set won’t fully be compatible (Users of keyboards from Razer, Gigabyte, Corsair, Logitech G910, G710 and Steelseries M800). That said, this is a high-quality set for the majority of users who want to change the look of their keyboard. I always feel that the items you use the most deserve some special attention, so let’s see if this set fits the bill.

Specs:

High-quality PBT keycaps, with a great feel, lasts much longer than ABS keysets.

1.5mm thickness OEM profile with laser marking front print delivers a simple and clean legend.

Non-transparent keycaps with a yellow and grey color combo with a vintage feel.

Easy to install, includes a keycap puller tool which makes it convenient to pull out keycaps.

Standard 104 key ANSI US keycaps, suitable for most 87, 104 key mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switch, Outemu, Kailh and Gateron Switches.

Packaging:

Packaging is plain but functional, and I particularly like that DREVO has branded security stickers as it adds to their overall branding. The keycaps are safely set in thick foam, and none were loose on receipt. This seems to be enough protection from damage in storage/transit which is great to see on an product bought for their aesthetic appeal.

Looks and Feel:

There’s probably some of you that might be looking at this set to replace some worn-out keycaps on an older keyboard, but it’s a fair bet that the majority are looking for new keycaps for a new keyboard to fit their desk/PC theme or their aesthetic taste. Keyboard manufacturers design for the majority of users, which won’t always be to your taste. That’s where keycap manufacturers come in, and it’s a thriving marketplace. You only have to take one look at thriving forums like /r/MechanicalKeyboards/ to see that keyboard lovers spend a lot of time, effort (and money) on their boards of personal preference. After spending some time with these keycaps, they feel (and sound!) on par with some much more expensive options.

They’re all soft-touch, with edge-engraved legend to not mar the top of the keys which combines to provide what I feel is the best balance between minimalism and function for keycaps.

I’ll be updating this review once I’ve swapped the caps out on my current keyboard.

Rounding up:

I know as a reviewer, I should be keeping an objective look at the item being reviewed — but it’s very hard to stay objective when it’s something that is rooted in personal subjectivity, such as keyboards and their accessories. This keycap set ticks all the boxes for me, will it for you? That’s down to your design aesthetics, I can only tell you that these are of a quality that is higher than their asking price and for that reason alone are worth buying if you’re in the market for a set of keycaps for your current board of choice.

You can find them at Amazon, with a MSRP of $21.99 at time of writing, with an additional $10 current coupon
