Not seeing results from your work effort

--

When you don’t see results your motivation decline, your team spirit disappear and the risk of failing with your startup is skyrocketing. I want to solve that!

Managing a startup

My experience in my first startup gave me an insight into a big problem when managing a company’s daily routines, to-do tasks, social media sites, current development assignment and similar activities. This problem was the source for losing motivation, becoming frustrated, and not seeing any movement, development or result for the work we all were doing 50-hours a week. It was a feeling of being stuck-in-the-middle.

The problem was the lack of transparency of each others current work, latest work and our company’s latest updates in both an internal and public context. In essence without knowing what each person were doing, and had been doing, all our time was used at planning the next move to make a better and more smart execution plan. This was because we couldn’t see any progress, no short term advancement or anything concrete being done. Instead there was a frustration of a forever to long to-do list that changed too often, with no idea of the speed we could eat through it. Beneath there is the key problems that I found in my startup experience.

Problems in a teamwork

  • Lack of communication → Not knowing what the people in your team are doing/have done.
  • Lack of overview of your own work effort→ Not being able to see where you were and not seeing progress of what you have been doing.
  • Using many different tools and having many different collections of files/tasks/links in many different formats and places → Not being able to consolidate everything into one whole picture.
  • Not being able to use time (day, week, month) of already done work to your advantage → Not knowing when you did what or how much you did, and not being able to track your progress of your effort.

A perfect company vision could minimize team frustration and make it easier to manage an agile project. But when running a startup you must expect a world where your ink is barely dry before it changes again. Based on the concrete experience in my first startup I’m convinced that we weren’t the first and only team that ran our heads into a work-week where transparency and visible results were lacking.

That is why I want to solve this problem for teams and company’s all around the world. I want to give an insight into all the work regardless of the source, and always have transparency for all team members. At the same time I want to give project managers an easy way of seeing and presenting progress, company accomplishment, work effort and summary of your teams and company results.

I want to solve this by…

My solution is based on a “one place to rule them all” mantra. I think that every person involved in a startup is navigating through a ton of different services and platforms. All products that in their own way are important, useful or inspirational.

I’m simply creating a short summary of your entire digital doing
and making it transparent for everyone involved.

I want to create transparency through one platform where you have an overview of your own work, of the work of other involved people and of the company’s digital doing. Furthermore I want to give you all the other stuff that companies are creating on other relevant platforms. All this information shall be presented on a single platform where you can easily comprehend what is done and see the results, effort and accomplishment in form of a live feed or as a daily, weekly or monthly auto summary. I’m simply creating a short summary of your entire digital doing and making it transparent for everyone involved. You are still using the same tools as you are used to, but this time you know how (much) you are using them and what you are using them for!

A key factor of keeping both project managers, developers, designers and others on the platform would be by the use of gamification. By using different kinds of measurements for effort, results and achievements I will give everyone involved a chance to compete with themselves — and if they like: each other. This is solely for the purpose of making them better at their job, more motivated and keeping them happy no matter what barrier the job demands they climb.

What do you wanna see, follow or comment on?

Below is a list of some of the sources I find interesting to give to you in an easy to digest overview. These inputs are both regarding personal and company based information, so you can see everything at once — on one platform.

  • Files: Dropbox, Google drive, Onedrive, Creative Cloud, etc.
  • Documents: Google Docs, Microsoft Office 360, etc.
  • Development: Github, Jira, etc.
  • Task managers: Asana, Basecamp, Podio, Salesforce, etc.
  • Social Media: Linkedin, facebook(groups, streams, sites), Twitter, etc.
  • PR: Mention.com, etc.
  • Links: Collect the links from added sources in a organized way.

Give me your feedback and suggestions here, so I know if you like my business concept.
