Dreaming of Returning to Cuba — Well we are finally open!

According to Reuters (https://bit.ly/CPTSMarsh) — International tourism, a key source of hard currency, would re-start in July, albeit only with travelers arriving via charter flights and tested upon arrival for COVID 19. Travel and Leisure (https://bit.ly/CPTTandL) reports commercial flights will only be allowed once Cuba enters its third phase of lifting lockdown. Dates for each of the planned phases have not yet been announced.

In this initial phase, tourists will only be permitted to visit Cuba’s keys, or Cayos, including Cayo Santo Maria, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, and Cayo Largo del Sur. Each hotel will have a medical team that will follow up on each traveler’s health. Hotel staff will also undergo testing, and self-isolation after working seven-day shifts. Cubans will not be permitted to visit the keys. The separation is an effort to contain any possible new cases of coronavirus that could be brought from abroad. Positive cases will need to quarantine at a designated area.

Here we have listed some of the flights already scheduled for the coming months, and we will bring you more details as definite dates are announced. From August 1, flights are expected into various airports, including Havana on American Airlines, Delta, Air France, Air Europa, Copa Airlines, AeroMexico, and Iberia. Read this excellent article from AFAR (https://bit.ly/CPTAfar), which outlines more clearly the process.

We are confident, however, that Cuba will be fully open by late October early November and are now taking bookings for the Festive Period and New Year.
