If you didn’t guess it, he was Jean-Michel Basquiat. In his early twenties, he surrounded him with the most fecund of the New York art scene and became one of the most glamorous art stars of The East Village Era.

Times change and art centers dispersed. It’s increasingly easier to get connected to the right people. Leroy Brothers’ studios are in Ghent, Belgium and Shanghai, China, each in constant conversation with the other. We’redirectly connected with people from Beijing to São Paulo, Paris to New York and we’re eager to connect more. Feel free to e-mail us.

We contact whom we want, whenever we want. We need work produced in Guangzhou? We email or Skype the production manager, chat, agree, collaborate, and pay! Soon, the product is delivered. Unthinkable twenty years ago, the world today is accessible! Take advantage of it! Furthermore, transportation is more affordable every day.

You fly from Europe to China and back again as from $650 (4.500 CNY) Brussels to London is an hour forty minutes’ travel! Cheap and fast.In 2007, Leroy Brothers decided to take a closer look of what was happening in Asia. We planned a trip from Hong Kong to Xiamen to Shanghai to Beijing to Seoul to Tokyo, spending five days in each city. Soon, we regretted planning too many appointments. We didn’t have time to visit a landmark or tourist attraction!

We rushed from meeting to meeting to see the people we’d contacted from our studio in Ghent, and to meet the people they suggested we meet.

We hadn’t foreseen meeting so many people and returned to Ghent with a suitcase full of business cards. From our home studio, we thanked every person we met during the trip. Today these connections are business partners, colleagues, and friends. Thanking people doesn’t cost anything, but is so important to do. “Not thanking” will not hurt anyone, but you will not be remembered either. So make an effort todo so.

China seemed so far away three years ago. Turns out that it was only perception! Thesedays, we go every month. So,instead of saving money for your next beach holiday with your lover or friends, exchange your tickets for a productive business expedition to the place you’re dreaming to show your work. More fun guaranteed! Better yet, buy that ticket now and get your kicks around the world! You decide who you’re going to meet. Everywhere you go, who you know is vital to finding opportunities.Surround yourself with people you admire. It’s easier to get along with them.
