91 and Counting
Interacting still counts!
The original post isn’t even mine. I just happen to comment on someone else’s post and this happened. 522 pm EST on Saturday and already 91 people have liked the comment.
Once upon a time, we got paid on this site for this type of interaction. Yes, we were paid for engagement. Claps, comments, and I forget what the third one was. One month between reads and engagements I took home $300. I Miss those days.
Nowadays we work like dogs, those of us who are serious about our work and treat it like an actual j-o-b. And maybe we make a dime. Maybe we don’t. Most do not.
I Googled to see if this site pays for engagement again. They do but not like they used to.
Calculating earnings in the Partner Program
Partner Program writers can earn based on Medium members activity on eligible stories. In this article you can learn more about your payouts and how Medium calculates them.
We’re always working to improve our model as we learn. Currently, we calculate earnings based on these components:
1. How long members spend reading or listening to your story
As Medium members spend more time reading or listening to your story, you will earn more. Member reads and Member read ratios are defined as paying members who read your story for 30 seconds or more divided by total views. Reading and listening times are combined to generate the “member reading time” metric.
