How Do You Self Publishers Do It?

Things have gotten harder since I put out my last book.

Welp, after walking out on a 20-year relationship and shutting all six of my businesses down I’ve decided to return to my first love. Writing. Two to three years ago I published about 400 times that year. Since then, it’s been a struggle to get back in the grove. Besides being sick I was burned out.

Other than a shower, a curbside pick order placed, and a run to the post office I’ve been sitting here dicking around putting my next book together. I still have the preface to write and then design the cover. Other than that it's done.

It’s the cover that’s kicking my ass.

I vowed never to publish on Amazon again and I’m sticking to that. But… but that didn’t stop me from using their KDP to format the book (book, not ebook) and to attempt to design a cover. Here’s where I’m hung up.

  1. Getting the top margin to line up. The image I chose has a built-in bookcase where the crown molding stops and then you see a blank white wall. The top of the cursive H came up above the top of the crown molding and landed on the white wall. To me, it just didn’t look right. I tried and I tried and I tried to grab the text box and move it down to no avail.
