Most college students want to have a social life on campus, but let’s face it, some people just don’t know how. For those of us that are not “socially inclined”, it can be a struggle to find a group of people to connect with. Over the time I’ve spent in college so far, it seems I’ve found a solution. If you want to get involved on campus, the best and easiest way to do that is to join a club, and here’s why.

1. You will learn how to best manage your time

As any college student will tell you, this is an extremely important skill to have. This is especially true if you don’t have a job. Clubs are a great way to work on balancing your time in between classes so that you can succeed in all areas of your life.

2. You’ll find your “niche”

I know this is cliché, but it’s so true. Once you’ve found a place where you fit in, life just becomes so much easier. Every college has hundreds of clubs to choose from, so there’s definitely one for everyone.

3. You’ll probably meet some of your closest friends there

The great thing about being in the same room as other like-minded individuals is that it’s super easy to make friends! And chances are, since you’ll be spending a lot of time with them, they will probably be in your life for a while. Keep this in mind when you go to that first club meeting. You could be looking at your new best friends.

4. You will learn how to engage with a diverse group of people.

Soft skills are an important thing to have. If you can’t communicate with people on a level that they will understand,no one will want you on their team, and no one is going to hire you. So, dealing with a group of people like this a good way to practice these skills.

5. You will learn a lot more than you think!

If you didn’t already know, there will always be someone who can do everything better than you can. Don’t worry! Life is a learning experience. Take a minute to look at those around you, and do your best to learn from them. I promise, it will make a world of a difference.
