We find a space to breathe, we feel,
That in these screams and rants, the raves of our mind shall continue to lose no appeal,
Unbridled they shall run riot and drown us in self-deceit,
When shall we realise that it is folly to make mistakes on repeat?
I suppose the imminence of self-defeat is all we ever truly counted on in the sleet.
The ease of this life.
Convenience is ease,
That tap and swipe to satiate carnal needs;
That swipe and snap to initiate carnival misdeeds;
That click and trap to incarcerate stallions as steeds,
stuck sliding across insatiable lust networks with flaccid phallus in hand.
That M-PESA message that makes your heart clap,
The M-Shwari one that makes your tongue cluck,
You could Fuliza all the way to Eid,
But is this convenience really ease?
Frankly, I get tired of all the slow speed,
The fine print that goes on and on, beyond all comprehension,
There is an innate and sickening greed in the countless avenues through which we capitalise and thieve from each other, apparently for each other, in a swirling cess of unabating excess and absence,
There is a problem with our blindness to our precarious position,
A disposition of disaffection should be at the edge of our tongues,
We continue to be plundered while the corrupt cats build empires for themselves and outsiders,
Hoodwinked out of our ancestral trust,
Sidelined in the lands we were stolen and sold from,
shot and burned off,
bled and died for,
in so many years of heinous sins preceding current dynastic/Sino-neo-colonialist proceedings…
I just wonder for how long we intend to be content with that? [insert appropriate hashtag]
