Triple burden on working women

Work from home during the Covid pandemic has its benefits but it has also put working women under a “triple burden”, said India’s current president, Ram Nath Kovind in January 2022.

I agree in full.

This was true and will remain true, before the pandemic, during the pandemic and after the pandemic.

In fact, this is what I have written in my book about working mothers.

Support for working women in 2022

For reasons that I cannot fully understand, this line of thinking seems to continue even today, even in 2022! But the good thing is that there are a lot of people who are trying to do the opposite — support and encourage women in their careers and businesses and help them achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

The internet blesses us with everything. As a wanderer, whenever I encounter something interesting, I save it. Here are three places on the web where you can find support as women, for women, by women.

elpha

Elpha is a professional network dedicated to helping women succeed at work together. When you become a member of Elpha you get access to daily conversations with industry experts, insider job opportunities at big tech companies and startups, and a lot of women talking candidly about work and life and everything in between.

Their Twitter profile says that they are a community of 50K+ women in engineering, product, sales, design, venture, marketing and more. Check out their salary database for some pointers.

leap.club

Leap Club’s mission is to get more women in leadership positions. It is a community-led professional network for women to make new connections & relationships, join communities, and access exclusive experiences.

Check out the “superconnections” section on their homepage where you can find current members working in a specific company. You can also use advanced filters to find members by experience, skill, industry and city. Most importantly, their jobs section is where the best talent and companies are.

A word of caution, though — there’s a waitlist; you can’t “just” join.

sheroes

SHEROES is India’s largest women-only social networking app and the top Mahila Business app. Women on SHEROES learn and earn, buy and sell through online shops, share interests, make new friends in a safe space, network and grow together.

This is more effective as an app than as a website. Although it is primarily an app for women entrepreneurship, there are dedicated communities for career advice and job postings.

The app has just over 7000 ratings as of Jan ’22 with a cumulative rating of 4.2/5, so the voice of women and the wisdom of the public seem to indicate that this is surely worth checking out.

Every day is a woman’s day

So what do you think of this? Are women on the rise, finally? Or have they always been and you never noticed? Whatever the case, if you are a woman, be proud. If you aren’t a woman, be supportive.
