Mexico’s e-commerce industry is fertile and very promising. Online surfers are getting increasingly used to shop online as different alternatives proliferate. It’s easy and convenient.

Especially the gift category is gaining traction. People are looking for ideas and products to solve the painful process of showing appreciation to a loved one. Women in particular, are spending increased amounts of time looking for the perfect gift for men.

For example, 69,000 people are looking every month for “gifts for my boyfriend.” That’s more than Greenland’s population.

But what are they exactly looking for?

There are basically two categories, ideas and gifts. The former is focused on D.I.Y projects, step-by-step guides or videos, while the latter is more oriented towards ready to give products.

Each category represents a different customer profile. “The Creator” segment, embraces those in quest for inspiration and ideas.

On the other hand, “The Curator” segment has less disposable time and more purchasing power; they are more keen to complete purchases online.

At the intersection between ideas and products is where the opportunity relies. There is no solution that brings together content (ideas) and products while at the same time delivering a compelling experience for women.

We created Handsome to put an alternative over the table. Our mission is to celebrate relationships, and we want to do it in a super simple and creative manner. At Handsome you will find exclusive gifts created by local artists, uncommon gift boxes curated by local influencers and insane D.I.Y ideas.

Finally, you might be asking how much money are we going to make with this, right?

Well, we’re actually going to make some handsome profits. As an e-commerce startup, most of our efforts will be directed towards reaching new customers through advertising and P.R. We’re even going to have an offline showroom available at different spots in Mexico, the idea is to smooth the natural friction between the online and offline world.

As the platform gains traction our cost per acquired customer will decrease and we will be able to penetrate adjacent markets, thus expanding our revenue streams.
