Greetings and welcome to the first edition of HUBL Digest. My name is Alston Clark, and today, we will traverse some of the latest blockchain news, lies, and gossip. This publication is the culmination of blockchain related new from March 5th to today March 8th. Without further introduction, let’s dive in.

You are probably reading this article, on a Google chrome or apple safari browser. Or quite possibly, your reading this article on the internet explorer browser. There are ton’s of internet browsers that are outside of popular consciousness. One such is called Opera. What is interesting about the Opera browser is that they partnered with brokerage firm Safello, to create a crypto wallet in browser experience for android users back in December. Well, this month, Opera announced on March 5th that they will soon be rolling out the same crypto wallet functionality to iOS users in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. This will go a long way towards creating a more native cryptocurrency experience for users. They will not have to download numerous apps to interact, but instead utilize crypto from the comfort of their internet browser.

Moving right along, profitability of a crypto mining rig involves multiple factors; such as, mining equipment, coin of choice, mining pool, and of course the price of energy. Well according to an article on Cointelegraph.com, many college students are winning with this witty hack — running mining rigs in their dorm rooms. According to a study by Cisco, university campuses are ranked the second biggest miners of digital currency across industry verticals. That’s right, some students are going to class, the cafeteria, and parties, while their rigs are mining away on the universities dime. (Disclaimer: HUBL does not advice any college students to run mining rigs in the dorms)

We all know it. In order to keep this planet healthy we, humans, need to implement renewable energy solutions. Design giant, Ikea, has answered this call by prototyping a microgrid solar powered community. According to an article in FastCompany, Ikea’s innovation lab called Space10, is designing a community where each house captures energy via solar panels. Per the design, the houses are connected to each other and enabled to sell excess energy peer-to-peer via a blockchain solution. In my opinion, the concept of microgrids and moving away from mega grids is amazing. This will enable individuals to take sustainability and eco-responsibility into their own hands.

Please stay tuned for our next issue of the HUBL Digest!
