“Wingman” A.I. headset module.

In the near distant future, people who do not have partners or healthy relationship are classified as “socially unfit” and face penalties.
A new technology of artificial intelligence assistants called “wingman” have taken over and they help people in getting them perfect partners. They assist in “how” to talk to their interests, “what” to talk about and how to “impress” them. Also, the wingman suggests who not to talk to for their owners benefit.

The story starts when Ron (protagonist) asks his wingman (A.I.) to assist him in impressing his long time crush Susan.
what will happen if the Wingman(A.I.) doesn’t approve of Ron’s choice?

Storyboard

In the story, Ron enjoys the company of his wingman(A.I.) as he helps him in so many things from acing conversations with smart replies to winning hearts in any presentation. Wingman has really helped him in getting out of his social awkwardness.
Everything was going smooth until Ron told his Wingman about his feelings for Susan(Ron’s colleague). Opinions crashed because the highly smart Wingman assessed Susans profile and its “social statistics test” showed that Susan will be 0 percent compatible with Ron.
Ron had a fight about this with his wingman as it should not go against his life choices but did the wingman stop there?

When the Wingman couldn’t convince Ron to not go for Susan, It decided to take another path. It manipulated all the information, from how to talk to Susan to What to talk, so Ron will not be able to impress Susan.
Things takes a different turn when Ron meets Susan. Susan shows a lot of interest in Ron because Susan’s wingman tells her that Ron is 88 percent compatible with her.
Things takes a wild turn again when Ron’s wingman while talking to Susan’s wingman convinces it that Ron is not suitable for Susan and it could be unhealthy for it’s owner.

“So, In this future; people talk to their A.I.s, people talk to other people what their A.I.s tell them and A.I. s talk to other A.I.s about their owners.”

Next day, Ron gets a notification that “ Susan has blocked him from her social circle”. This breaks Ron’s heart and to his surprise he never gets to know why it happened.
The wingman comes to console him!

“The Wingman(A.I.) did everything opposite of what he was there for thinking it was best for his owner. But is it really best for Ron ?”

“Is technology DICTATING your most important life choices?”

This Future narrative was then put up in a play form and was enacted by the people from my batch using lights, sound and people as props.

Still from the play for the narrative.

In order to give look and feel to the products from the future we used basic arduino to play with lights and simple sensors.

Tinkering with arduino with LEDs.
Wingman A.I. module made using simple LED and laser cut acryllic.

Next step was to polish the stories further.
Storyboards were put up and the whole batch critiqued each others story for improvements and opportunities.

ideas and questions to think about…

Reflections to take further…

Can the A.I. have personality of its own? maybe similar to the owner.
The ethical impact of this technology?
How can this A.I. take many other forms?
How can it be everyday usefull?
