What we want from our YouTube Influencers
We are interested in hearing from content creators who can understand the HPB vision of putting long term technological development ahead of pure speculation.
HPB has developed a blockchain that is EVM compatible, thus making development much easier on our chain. We feel that we have hit the optimal balance between a fair and transparent consensus algorithm in Proof of Performance (POP), an exciting Community Governance model, a fair rewards system for our node operators, sustainability of our chain, and offering far cheaper costs. We are seeking content creators who can explain this vision to the world.
The recent development of the “HPB Labs and Assetlink cross-chain solution” combined with our Community Governance driven model, are exciting feats for us in 2021 and we want to get this message out there to the world. With this new cross-chain solution, our vision for 2021 is to enable the transfer of any digital asset from one blockchain network to another, at far cheaper costs and faster speeds than currently available. You can read more on this below.

TL;DR
Below, find a summary of the HPB platform so you can better understand HPB.
The HPB Story in short
HPB is a longstanding blockchain project (In blockchain terms), started in 2017 with a main net launch in 2018. We have built “the first permissionless blockchain to utilize dedicated hardware to accelerate TPS, enabling widespread adoption”.
Since 2017, HPB has been in a rapid development mode to ensure the blockchain is fully developed. We are now at a stage where we wish to onboard new projects and DApps to our network.
HPB’s Unique Technological Approach
What sets HPB apart from all other competing blockchains is our use of hardware alongside software as a solution to scalability and throughput, whilst not sacrificing security, which so many blockchains cannot do.
HPB is a public blockchain infrastructure, utilising a BOE hardware accelerator (The hardware chipset seen above), which combines CPU serial capability and parallel processing capability of “Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)/ASIC chips” (High Performance Blockchain, 2021). The use of the above chip provides a huge advantage to dApps considering HPB over other chains.
The HPB Consensus algorithm
HPB consists of a global node network used to process and verify transactions similar to other blockchains, ensuring true decentralisation is achieved. What sets us apart is our Proof of Performance (POP) consensus algorithm, not too dissimilar to POS, but with the added considerations for certain performance indicators when deciding which node will become an HPB-Node and write a block. These performance indicators are set, in order of importance:
- Network bandwidth (50% weight)
- Ranking by community votes (35% weight)
- Number of HPB coins held (15% weight)
All HPB node operators are remunerated in HPB coins with the present rewards as follows:
- 66.6% of total block rewards going to High Performance Nodes (node chosen to write a block-35% for chosen node) and Candidate Nodes (Node not processing the block but required to verify the transaction under POP-65% overall split between all candidates).
- 33.3% of total block rewards go to Elected Nodes: HPB holders vote for these under our community governance model (described below), with nodes allocated this based on the number of votes received. Node operators have the option to share this with the community members who voted for them.
HPB Community Governance
Our commitment to Community Governance also sets us apart from other chains. We are a fully decentralised chain that operates a community-driven ecosystem. True decentralisation gives power to the user, and HPB is fully aligned to this vision. HPB holders have the power to vote, giving true openness and transparency to our on-chain progressive governance model.
“Voting itself is an important part of community governance. For the decisions to change important parameters of HPB, we hope that the community can participate” (Xiaoming Wang, HPB CEO, Feb 2020)
HPB recently appointed our Community Governance Councillors in March 2021, with all HPB holders eligible to put themselves forward (if you hold at least 10,000 HPB coins) and vote for their candidate of choice. We operate a “1 HPB to 1 Vote Policy”, ensuring larger holders have more of a say.
Our council consist of 13 seats:
- 5 seats are held by the Official HPB team.
- 2 seats are held by developer representatives.
- 3 seats are held by node validator’s representatives.
- 3 seats are held by community representatives.
This council has a council elected Prime Member to oversee everyday activities. Our Governance Model will ensure rapid development, bring about active community programmes, and aim to attract projects to HPB.
Our POP consensus algorithm underpins the entire Governance system of the HPB ecosystem because it decides which HPB-node will write a block, based on that node’s performance indicators. Our community members give power to our node operators. This POP consensus strikes a nice balance between POW (where the greatest computer power rules) and POS (where the wealthiest rule). POP enshrines fair governance, holding all nodes accountable to their community. Our users have a voice!
Our competitive advantages over other Chains
HPB has been actively pursuing the perfection of our hardware and software solution to blockchain technology, which we feel sets us apart from the competition out there at present.
Our BOE accelerator chip offers a huge competitive advantage over other chains. We can offer true random number generation. All of our Elected nodes have this because within our BOE chip we have a Hardware Random Number Generator (HRNG) chip. Our solution ensures the HPB Nodes and Users, such as dApps, of these random numbers are separated to reduce collusion, thus allowing secure confirmation. HPB offers true randomness, a feat other blockchains have yet to solve without the aid of complex algorithms, oracles, APIS, etc… All of this adds to the gas fees on other chains. The use case of this is huge for dApp developers who require this feature, such as lotteries, gaming, security, defi etc…To date, HPB has seen a number of dApps launch to make use of this feature, most recently Love Lucky Draw by SZ.cn, a lottery-based dApp to entice users to e-commerce sites in China. Since 2017, multiple gaming dApps have also launched on HPB.
HPB is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chain, meaning we can easily support the transfer of ERC-20 dApps to our HRC-20 format, with the added benefit of being a fraction of the cost of ETH and offering far superior transaction speeds.
HPB is actively engaged in NFT development, and we have recently entered into a strategic partnership with iNFT, one of the world’s leading NFT digital asset minting and trading platforms. iNFT is currently incubated within our HPB Labs Framework, to aid their development. As mentioned above HPB is EVM compatible, so like ETH, we offer the ability to mint HRC-721 NFTs in place of ETH ERC-721 NFTs, at a fraction of the cost.
HPB is committed to offering true cross-chain compatibility. HPB Labs recently incubated “MyTrade”, an exciting Decentralised Exchange (DEX).Through our ongoing development with MyTrade we now have our “AssetLink” cross-chain protocol in operation. Most blockchains today are trying to solve the issue of true cross-chain interoperability, whilst at the same time ensuring the decentralised model is not hampered. AssetLink offers this solution, through the use of a Chainlink Oracle at the point of interaction between outside world information and the HPB blockchain itself, in short creating a secure “bridge”. Chainlink was the chosen solution, to ensure our cross-chain solution abides by the strictest decentralisation and security rules. Assetlink V.1 will utilise a Chainlink Oracle to connect blockchains that support the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) at first, so in essence, facilitating transfers of ERC-20 assets between Ethereum and High Performance Blockchain at first, then from HPB to all other EVM chains further down the line.
HPB, through our POP consensus algorithm and minimal fees, offers a far greener solution to blockchain technology.
Overall HPB is a blockchain that offers the following competitive advantages:
- HPB does 5000 transactions per second vs Ethereum’s 20, giving HPB better throughput.
- Transactions are a fraction of a penny on HPB vs ETH’s multi-dollar transaction price tag making HPB more cost-effective.
- HPB’s POP consensus algorithm vs Ethereum’s POW consensus algorithm requires vastly less energy to verify transactions making it more sustainable. It is in fact 1000s of times greener than ETH.
- HPB offers a cross-chain solution with true decentralisation at the core focus, utilising a Chainlink Oracle as the bridge to the outside world. This is a far superior solution to many of our competitors.
- HPB is an EVM-compatible chain, making the transition from ETH much simpler.
