Just think about how many emails you write today as a recruiter just to schedule a single interview. The process of coordinating & scheduling an interview is as slow as it was 10 years ago.

Scheduling job interviews is a time-consuming task, as it always has been; one that can easily account for 10 emails per interview cycle. If the typical recruiter coordinates 10 interviews a day we are talking up to 100 emails flying about. With your inbox cluttered you need to start setting up rules to move your scheduling emails into a different folder just so you can still see the emails about other topics.

This has long been the case for all recruiters for easily 10+ years. The only major shift in process is to introduce another headcount to manage the end-to-end process between the interviewer and the candidate. In some companies you come across “recruiting coordinators” who’s sole purpose is to schedule interviews. This seems like a major overhead and introduces huge friction of communication inside a company.

What’s shocking is that little to no resource is invested in this space, it’s as if the industry has simply just accepted the way it has always been. It is hard to find another example that is so close to the tech scene and has not benefited from its proximity to the industry.

You could argue that the applicant tracking systems have gotten better with modern takes like Greenhouse but when it comes to scheduling, even modern systems are still cumbersome. But we do see a light at the end of the tunnel.

A good example is Skype Interviews. It’s actually combining the scheduling task with setting up the interview call together all in one simple web dashboard. It’s just one of the many ways you can see that Skype Interviews is purpose-built for the recruiting industry.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t other great alternatives, such as “Calendly” who is in the scheduling space for years and also has awesome integrations. Another amazing scheduler is “x.ai” who uses a personal assistant to schedule calls in a super fun and natural way. However, they do not feel purpose-built for scheduling interviews and that is where Skype Interviews really excels.

We believe Skype Interviews is only the tip of the iceberg of innovation in this space. That’s why we created HR Secrets.
