For those who appreciate wine, it’s highly recommended to include a trip to the Wine Route in Colli, a charming village located in the Ciociaria region, in your itinerary. Make sure to check it out!

The Ciociaria region

Southeast of Rome lies a vast region known as Ciociaria, or Cioceria, which extends over the Alban Hills and to the gates of Abruzzo and Molise. This area is renowned for its vineyards, and since 2007, local winemakers in Colli and other towns along the Cesanese Wine Route have revived this tradition. They are now using it to showcase the exceptional products of the central and lower Ciociaria area.

The grape harvest is a time-honored tradition in regions where wine is produced yearly. One of these areas is Ciociaria, a land with a rich history, culture, and stunning environment. The grapes here are cultivated with care and reverence, following natural rhythms and techniques handed down through generations.

The resulting wine is a precious gift showcasing the character and passion of its winemakers. To celebrate the connection between the land and wine, the La Strada del Vino event is held yearly in Colli, a charming village in the heart of Ciociaria. Local wineries participate in the festivities by opening their doors to visitors and showcasing their products and heritage.

In addition to guided tours, tastings, and workshops, the event also offers opportunities to explore the area’s artistic and natural wonders through entertainment. Colli is known for producing Cesanese DOCG, Malvasia IGT, Cabernet Sauvignon IGT Lazio, and Passerina IGT Lazio wines. The Wine Route in Colli, which will take place in 2023, is a unique experience that immerses you in an authentic and captivating culture where wine embodies the essence of tradition, culture, and conviviality.
