Thank You, MassChallenge
If there’s even a shred of truth to the expression, “you are who you surround yourself with,” then I can’t think of a better place to start a company than the MassChallenge office in Seaport.

Every day, dozens of entrepreneurs from all conceivable walks of life go to work in the same office, under the same roof, working towards the same goal: To build something new and exciting.
Tech companies work side-by-side with educational non-profits. The CEO of a ridesharing app might share lunch with the creator of a clothing line. It’s like freshman orientation except with new business ventures instead of 18-year-old college kids.
This summer, my employer’s workspace was sandwiched in between two different compies; One that made virtual reality goggles, and one that made keto-friendly protein bars.
The creative energy on our side of the room alone could have powered the entire building. No two days were exactly the same. The environment was absolutely electric.
The fact that I’ve gotten to work for two MassChallenge startups — one as a summer internship and one as a freelance job — is no coincidence. Sitting at a desk mere feet away from several other startups meant I was bound to shake some meaningful hands. My workspace at my summer internship was seriously within whispering distance of my current employer. It’s safe to say that without MassChallenge, I wouldn’t have a job right now. And that’s just from my perspective. A college intern with zero responsibilities. I can’t imagine how the founders must feel.
The value that MassChallenge provides to its startups is nothing short of astronomical. Real estate in downtown Boston is not something that a month-old company happens upon by chance. It costs money. Lots of money. Money that a brand new business probably doesn’t have. Or at least can’t spare without making substantial sacrifices. Mass Challenge helps entrepreneurs surmount this barrier to entry by providing them with an office during this vulnerable stage.
The level of growth that JobGet has experienced during these past few months can only be attributed to its residence at the MC Seaport office.
I have no doubt that our app/platform would have taken off eventually on its own, but having a free workspace in a city like Boston in an office full of other tech startups catalyzed our success immeasurably.
The true value of MassChallenge is its ability to prevent good ideas from going to waste over a lack of funding. Concepts like JobGet have been able to survive and flourish because we don’t have to waste time worrying about financial speedbumps that might impede our progress.
So, once again, thank you MassChallenge for giving us the space to grow and learn. You’ve made us what we are today and we can’t wait to become yet another one of your success stories.
Sincerely,
Caleb Parker (on behalf of the entire JobGet team)
