Introduction

Hello to everyone, in this article we will talk about the Data Express Service that Huawei Cloud provider currently provides service. We will examine this service in-depth and talk about its many unknown features. If the coffee is ready, we can start.☕ Enjoy reading.🤗

What is Data Express Service?

A TB-scale data transfer service is called a Data Express Service. It facilitates the transfer of large amounts of data to Huawei Cloud by offering physical storage devices (such as SAS, SATA, external USB hard drives, and Teleport). DES provides transmission speeds of up to 1000 Mbit/s at a fraction of the cost of the Internet; This is almost ten times faster than what can be achieved over the Internet. Neither the bandwidth of large companies nor the bandwidth of public networks is used by DES. Data can be transmitted via HDD or Teleport using DES. The transmission mode can be selected depending on the amount of data to be transmitted.

Data Express modeling

✅ If the data volume is less than 30 TB, disks are used. Teleport is used for data volumes between 30 and 500 TB.

✅ If you have more than 500 TB of data, the Direct Connect service is used.

If your DES is Teleport-based, a Huawei data center will send you a Teleport. For disk-based DES, the user is responsible for preparing the disks.

Data Express Advantages

1-) Effective transfer of large amounts of data to the cloud In DES, when the administrator receives the relay media containing your Huawei DC data, it connects the device to the server. After successful verification using your entered access keys (AK/SK), the data upload process is initiated over a high-speed network. DES reduces costs, accelerates large-scale data transfer to the cloud, and significantly increases data transfer speed.

2-) Strong data security

Secure communication is ensured by the military-grade enclosure offered by DES based on teleports. For service orders in Teleport- and disk-based DES, signature files are created. The distinct identification for comparing a DES order with a device is called a signature file, which avoids errors brought on by human matching.

You must input the access keys (AK/SK) to start the data upload process before the data is transferred to OBS. SSL encryption is supported during the data upload process to OBS. Furthermore, OBS regulates access to buckets and objects through a variety of mechanisms, including bucket policies and ACLs, and employs access keys (AK/SK) for authentication. These safeguards guarantee the safety of data uploading and retrieval.

Data transferred using DES is stored in OBS. Once recorded into tracks, it is first randomly split across several drives. Therefore, even if some disks are stolen in DC, most of your data cannot be restored using the lost disks. Your data storage is protected by security measures.

3-) Several choices for transmission

Depending on the kind and quantity of data, DES offers two possibilities for data transfer. One is Teleport-based DES, in which a Huawei DC-provided Teleport with excellent I/O performance is used as the transmission medium. The alternative is disk-based DES, which requires you to ship data to a Huawei DC after storing it on a transmission medium of your choosing.

4-) Reduced upkeep expenses

Huawei DCs handle data management and device maintenance, thus once large data is stored in OBS buckets via DES, no maintenance staff is needed to maintain storage devices.

5-) Basic setup With 10GE optical fibers, 10GE network connections, and power cables, Teleport is a plug-and-play device. In only one minute, you may begin data replication by simply establishing IP addresses.

Data Expores Service Features

  • Security Scope

Your data is shielded from malicious access and attrition by DES’s robust security mechanism.

Transit environment security is guaranteed by Teleport-based DES, which makes Teleport crush-proof, vibration-resistant, and resistant to dust and water. Another feature is a safety lock.

Assurance of security while transmitting data: The administrator attaches the disk or Teleport to the server once Huawei DC receives your data from the transport storage medium. After that, you will receive an SMS telling you to enter the access keys (AK/SK). Data upload occurs after key authentication is successful. Employees of Huawei are thus prevented from accessing your keys or data, and data security is guaranteed throughout transmission.

  • Transmission speed

Offering high-speed transfer speed to solve the problem of long data transfer times is one of the main benefits of DES. It greatly limits network bandwidth and the loading speed of local data. To overcome the problem of limited network capacity, DES keeps the data in transit and transfers it to a Huawei DC. Also available is DES’s high I/O performance option, Teleport. However, device performance, data amount, data type, and file storage mode continue to have an impact on the DES transmission rate.

  • Service status tracking

DES provides comprehensive service ordering procedure constraints. The data transfer procedure can be followed according to the service order status details in the management console. Disk-based DES ordering and Teleport-based DES ordering have different states.

Related Services

With the help of DES, you can transfer data quickly, safely, and effectively. We can say that the problem of moving large amounts of data to the cloud has been solved with this service. Teleportation and disk are two data transport methods that DES provides. OBS packages are used to load and store data. Therefore, DES must be used together with OBS. Before using DES in OBS, a package must be created.

Billing Modes

Data Express Service (DES) provides two transmission modes: disk-based and Teleport-based. DES is billed per order and data import traffic is free.

If we were to explain these charges:

For Dataexpress

Formula: Fees = Number of physical storage devices x Unit price of a physical storage device

Billing factor: number of physical storage devices

For Duration

Formula: Fees = (Use duration — Free duration) x Duration unit price

The use duration of Teleport-based DES is the duration of onsite usage, that is, from the time when the status of the order becomes User signed to the time when the status becomes Sending to Huawei.

The use duration for disk-based DES is the time when the disk data is imported, that is, from the time when the status of the order becomes the Access key (AK/SK) to be entered to the time when the status becomes.

Conclusion

As we all know, it is very difficult to move the systems of companies with large data to the cloud today. At this stage, Data Express Service comes to our rescue. With this solution, Huawei physically carries out the transfer operations and prevents any possible data loss while these transfers are taking place.
