Hello!

In this article, I have compiled the top 5 mobile games that were most popular in February, as well as some major news in the gaming industry. Here are the most popular mobile games of the month:

🌵Sands of Salzaar — an open-world strategy RPG set in a desert, offering players a world to rebuild their forces from scratch and command them, with strategic battles, well-thought-out characters, and a rich story.

🏀NBA All-World — a game that resembles Pokemon Go with its 1-on-1 battles, where players seek out and customize real-world famous basketball players, among other things. It’s a game that I think all basketball fans and AR enthusiasts should definitely try.

🏠Valiant Hearts: Coming Home — an adventure and puzzle game that I think gamers who likes to play the combination of both will enjoy it, sponsored by Netflix games. I would like to remind you that the previous game, Valiant Hearts: The Great War, won a BAFTA award.

🕴️Various Daylife Mobile — a turn-based, strategic, and RPG game that offers players a gameplay experience where they will enjoy exploring undiscovered territories.

💨Avatar Generations — an official game of the beloved animated series, a turn-based manga adventure RPG game that features recognizable characters from the series that you can add to your team and play with.

Apex Legends Mobile

Electronic Arts Shutting Down Apex Legends Mobile Game Due to Failure to Meet Expectations

Electronic Arts, one of the most important companies in the gaming industry, first released their Battle Royale game, Apex Legends, in February 2019. The game has reached a wide player base in the past 4 years and is still one of the most played Battle Royale games.

In order to take the game’s popularity to the mobile world, Electronic Arts released a mobile version called Apex Legends Mobile in May of last year. However, the company did not achieve the success it expected with the mobile version, and announced that the mobile version of the game would be discontinued.

According to information shared by Electronic Arts, Apex Legends Mobile will be completely shut down on May 1, 2023.

Unity’s Supersonic division assesses the marketability of mobile game prototypes

As a game developer, you can never be sure how marketable a game prototype will be. However, Unity’s Supersonic division now has an update that allows developers to evaluate how marketable their game prototypes are for mobile game publishing tools.

When Unity acquired IronSource for $4.4 billion last year, they took on Supersonic as a division. Supersonic now has an update that will prevent game developers from wasting time on uncompromising game prototypes. The tools provided by Supersonic can evaluate whether a game prototype is marketable or not.

Developers may need to create a complete prototype that can be launched in the market, perhaps even a ten-level game. Then, Supersonic’s tools can be used to evaluate the marketability of the prototype. Nadav Ashkenazy, in an interview with GamesBeat, said that developers can test multiple prototypes simultaneously to see which one gets the best results.

Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen recently announced that the Finnish mobile game company has successfully developed five hit games, but has also had to discontinue 30 games over the years. Despite this, the success of their five hit games has made Supercell one of the most lucrative and prosperous game companies in history.

Supercell’s popular game Clash of Clans alone has generated more than $10 billion in lifetime revenue, while Hay Day has exceeded $2 billion. In 2022, Supercell reported a revenue of $1.89 billion (€1.77 billion), which was a 6% decrease compared to the previous year. The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) were $674 million (€632 million), which was a 14% decrease compared to the previous year. The company also paid $140 million (€132 million) in corporate taxes.
