Impact Hub Birmingham Kickstarter Reward: Photography Workshop & Photowalk
I’ve discovered that the best way to see Birmingham is on foot. Many of my images are the product of wandering the streets and finding things that interest me, from the architecture to the people. Birmingham is full of amazingness & diversity, from the hipness of Digbeth to the striking facade of the new library, and everything in between.
I live and breathe photography, and I don’t believe you need a great camera to be able to take great pictures. The best camera is the one you have on you! Photography is about storytelling, capturing the ever changing moment, marvelling at the world around you, looking closer at the details.
The other thing I love to do is teach. Not in a “this is the only way you should do this” kind of way, but collaboratively, bending the rules, fostering innovation.
This reward will be a unique opportunity to join with me to learn some new skills and explore this wonderful city.
In the workshop we’ll discuss techniques, narrative and how to get the best out of whatever camera you’re using, even (and especially) if it’s a smartphone. I’ll be able to answer any questions, and share my knowledge of the art and the industry.
Although workshops are great, getting out there and putting into practise what you’ve learned is hugely valuable. Together we’ll embark on a photowalk and explore this amazing city. I’ll show you some of my favourite spots, and you can discover your own.
Don’t worry, it won’t be a hike, we’ll stop at some of the amazing independent food and coffee shops to recharge and hopefully finish somewhere where we can grab a drink, a bite to eat and talk about the day.
Finally, photographs should never exist in isolation. Images are meant for sharing, on Twitter, on Instagram, on Facebook. We’ll create a canvas of life in Birmingham on that day.
Want to be part of it? Pledge now, support the amazing Impact Hub Birmingham, ready your camera and your comfy shoes and let’s do this!
