On the way to Jodhpur, we stopped in Ranakpur, one of the major Jain temples
The carvings are incredible
and the atmosphere is very peaceful
Monkeys on the road!
Our driver, Mr Singh, shows us a temple for travellers where a "holy" motorcycle is worshipped for good luck and to ward off crashes!
A well powered by buffaloes!
Our hotel in an former mansion (haveli)
one of our rooms on a courtyard
There aren't actually that many blue houses…
but the ones that are, are really picturesque!
Cows everywhere
Ordinary chaos
An absolutely beautiful step well… some local boys jump in it from 15 m above… crazy!
Jodhpur fort, huge and never taken by force
The palace inside the fort
Sedan chair with peacocks, a bird you can see everywhere in mosaics and other paintings in Rajasthan palaces. And on the right, a 'toran' panel, which is hung over the doorstep for good luck in weddings
Jaswant Thada, the Jodhpur 'mini Taj'
Chipmunks are everywhere!
