We only spent 10 days in Norway but those were packed with city and country fun. First Oslo, a troll theme park in Lillehammer, and Bergen…

The wonderful Oslo opera
Inside the main hall, the curtain is made to look like crushed foil
Outside the window, you see the Monica Bonvicini's sculpture of an Iceberg, called 'She lies'
View on the harbour from the top
The wonderfully modern and inviting public library opposite the opera, with lots of books in English… the kids could have stayed for hours!
Stroll at the Akershus fortress
Great playground and donuts on the harbour!
Viking museum
The Astrup Fearnley museum of modern art
The kids are puzzled and a bit disgusted by Damien Hirst's art!
The Norwegian parliament, and a weird installation of toilets with French colours and motto!
The Kon Tiki raft that Thor Heyerdahl built to prove that Native South Americans could have crossed the Atlantic to settle in the Pacific islands… amazingly crazy expedition in 1948, which was a success! We read Heyerdahl's book prior to going to Easter Island so it was great to actually see the raft in the Kon Tiki museum dedicated to this amazing Norwegian adventurer.
The Nobel Prize center, where every Friday at noon, good news for peace are announced and a dove is released…. disappointment, it is just a regular pigeon!
The center is great, with a 'time machine' and mystery to resolve for kids, and a great installation with information about all the Peace Nobel prize laureates
Oslo town hall on the harbour
The Hunderfossen theme park, around trolls and Norwegian folk tales, near Lillehammer
Roller coaster and water fun!
Static electricity and more trolls!
An extremely scenic train ride from Oslo to Bergen
A museum of Norwegian art in Bergen and atmospheric streets
Norwegian souvenirs… which we don't buy
The beautiful harbour area of Bryggen
We take the cable car to get a great view on Bergen and its fjord
Fantoft Stave church, all in wood outside…
… and inside. On the right, ready to leave Bergen!
