Introducing…

Hugh Benny Balsam. July 20, 2016 2:49am | 1 lb. 15 oz. | 13.5 in.

Hugh is a week old today! Happy Birthday baby :)

He arrived on Wednesday July 20th at 2:49 in the morning (a whole 14 weeks early!), weighing in at 1 lb. 15 oz. He’s feisty and active when he’s not tucked neatly in the intricate nests that his nurses build for him, and is calmed by a tiny binky and a firm hand-hold. He let out some amazing yelps/squeals when he was born, and hasn’t stopped exercising his lungs all on his own since.

What a wild few weeks it’s been. We are so grateful that he’s here and healthy. He’s been a straight-A NICU student so far — exceeding expectations of his medical team for a baby at his gestational age. Making us proud already.

And now, we sit back and watch him grow and get stronger. He’s doing all the work. He’s the tiniest, cutest little peanut, and we’re so happy that he’s our son.
