This Is Who Trump Is

And it was difficult to draw

This was a difficult drawing to do. Not because I feel ambivalence about the horrible things Trump said about women in the recently released videotape. But because drawing the act that Trump describes felt uncomfortable. I just normally don’t draw things like this. And maybe I was empathizing with the cartoon woman I drew.

But it had to be drawn.

Trump’s non-apology apology, and the words on the videotape, display a grotesque attitude that is persistent, offensive and violent. That he attempts to explain it away as “locker room banter,” that it is thought that that characterization will fly, demonstrates sexism is still alive and well in our culture.

Maybe now we can hope that socially acceptable sexism will be exposed even more: we — good women and good men — won’t stand for this.
