The downside of the specialization is that we have a very fragmented in our outlook of our wprld and our experiences. We tend to look at things through the filter of our perspectives and beliefs.
In america we clearly hear about it every day in our government. Our governenece seem to jump from one crisis to another and each one of them seems like players digging their heels in in a battle field and sparring with each other in the media. Eventually coming up with a solution that is more of a short term and band aid solution. Even as a solution is presented we can see that we are headed to yet another crisis.
A secialized view of things has congealed itself around some key issues that seem to define the agenda. A classic case of tail wagging the dog.
There is a clear need to take a broader perspective on why things have gotten to the point that they are. See that there are very real problems out there that are causing stress in economy, our jobs, our relationships and our personal lives. It is possible that the way that we are looking at the problem is not helping us find a solution to the problem.
I am using the political story as a way to make a point. I am not an expert in politics. However even with my average awareness of the political forces I can see that we have a fragmented view of our society — where the government, big business, enterprenuers and small companies, churches and labor unions all work within their specific spheres. A by product of this is that the system has built in waste of resources and energy because entities work at counter purpose and spend lot of resources trying to force the whole system to work from their own perspective. One look at the expenses on a national campaign and the added knowledge that this money provides on a candidate or their plan — will show that there is a huge waste of resources in this area if our system, beleifs and perspectives stay the course.
Looking at all these organizations as separate entities then forces us to look at a specific organization for a solution to a problem. We can easily broaden our perspective and see why each one of these came into being and how they have evolved and start to see how the human experience was enriched with each one of these. We can also see how we are stuck in some areas. I clearly do not postulate that we can solve our problems overnight or quickly, however a blueprint for solving these problem requires a integral view of the the entities in the political system. An acknowledgement that at individual level — person, political party, company etc — we work from an incomplete model of the world. Understanding beliefs and needs of the other groups can lead to a more effective approach.
My main interest in life has been looking at human experience from the perspective of what human potential truly is. Looking at the pinnacles of human experiences and realizing that it is theoretically possible that each one of us can enjoy an experience of life that is much richer than what we experience today.
My understanding of human experience is that how we are experiencing life and feeling about our selves largely determines our thoughts, actions and results. I broadly tend to look at human potential services in three different phases:
- Crisis Management — best suited for when we are stuck in survival
- Wellness care — moving from stressed mind and body to a state of healthy body and relaxed mind.
- Human Potential — moving to Inspired thinking, inspired action and inspired relationships.
I have been very lucky to have been exposed to many teachers and mentors who have mastered various aspects of human potential. It is possible to connect the dots because of the amazing work that they have done.
Issac Newton said that “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulder of Giants”
My belief and hop is that there is enough ground work and thinking that has already gone into components of Human Potential Continuum and by taking an integrated approach to Human Potential we can move towards a much richer human experience.
