There are many reasons to join or create a coven. Not only is it fun to practice your craft with others, but you can also learn so much from other witches. Being a part of a coven is one of the greatest experiences I have ever known. It’s fun to teach others about witchcraft as well as forge friendships with other witches.

What is a coven?

A coven is a group of witches that come together to teach each other and practice with one another. Witches in a coven usually celebrate the Sabbats or pagan holidays together as well.

Most covens typically aim for thirteen members, but you can have as many or as few as you’d like. The number thirteen is tied to the occult world, linked to superstition, bad luck, and evil power. This doesn’t mean all covens are created on evil grounds though. These are just the origins of where it started.

My coven has a current total of five members. We also have an additional individual who is interested in witchcraft but is not yet certain of their path. They join us for some of the classes we host to learn along with us. We’re still growing, but I don’t know if we’ll ever have thirteen members.
